ROOTS&ROUTES TV

It's a web community video site thing. First of all, there's two URLs. I guess I'm supposed to concentrate on this rootsandroutes.tv -site and not as much on the rootsnroutes.eu -one, but who knows. Something to ask about in the interview, at least.

Roots & Routes TV states that it's an "international video community for youth, culture, music, lifestyle and cultural diversity. With reports about urban culture in your neighbourhood and events in your city." It seems that unlike many other video sites Roots & Routes does not encourage (or allow?) users to posts just any videos - instead, they arrange workshops where these videos are created.

The site also states that "Young people with different cultural roots get together in workshops and young journalist groups, producing creative products and a web-TV magazine on urban culture and cultural diversity in their everyday life. Results are presented on this website and at annual presentation events in all cities involved. This project empowers the participants to do media productions on a high level and to communicate their wishes and demands to the public."

So yeah, seems good I guess. Clicking on "join" leads to an empty page, though... Overall the site does seem a bit messy and hard to comprehend, but I suppose with a little polish it could be an interesting thing. It does seem to try and localize the content, and there's even some Finnish stuff on the site, which might make it easier to get into. Whether it has the chance to win, I really, honestly do not know.

Is this enough? It has to be. I need to sleep more than a couple of hours a night sometimes.

  1. This seems like a potentially great website, especially because the projects are being funded. I like the fact that it promotes young people coming together and interacting with each other in the real world, because most people's best friend nowadays is their computer and the ability to productively communicate socially is rapidly declining. It also helps people to better understand different cultures and the world around them. I think it perfectly combines the digital with the real.

I'm not really sure what I would ask. Maybe, "Is there an age limit to be a part of this?" because I do not see why it should only be aimed at young people, also because I'm getting old. Maybe I do not understand the point of the website well enough.
