workshop with STARTeurope
The workshop was about designing a business model and highlighting and organizing all the essential elements in one sheet of paper. The presentation was so educational and well explained with examples and practical exercises.
First there is a problem, then you find a solution to solve the problem. Then you can sell it to other people who might have same problem as you had. Business model helps you to sell your product and guides you to get through all the stages needed for a successful business.
Before starting your business you should be overconfident, overoptimistic, creative and inner driven.
There are nine blocks that you need to fill with related information and find the the best possible answers; brainstorming is strongly recommended.
Here come the nine blocks with a short description for each:
Customer Segments
An organization serves one or several Customer Segments.
Value Propositions
It seeks to solve customer problems and satisfy customer needs with value propositions.
Channels
Value propositions are delivered to customers through communication, distribution, and sales channels.
Customer Relationships
Customer relationships are established and maintained with each Customer Segment.
Revenue Streams
Revenue streams result from value propositions successfully offer to customers.
Key Resources
Key resources are the assets required to offer and deliver the previously described elements
Key Activities
by performing a number of Key Activities.
Key Partnerships
Some activities are outsourced and some resources are acquired outside the enterprise.
Cost Structure
The business model elements result in the cost structure.
There was an exercise named Silly Cow and people in groups of five or six had to choose a cow-related product and make a business plan for it. Ideas were not realistic: for instance there was a business plan about acting cows for movie industry or a project called CowCowo in which the gen manipulated cows produce chocolate milk. Thus it was just a practice on writing a business model and filling the nine blocks with relevant information. After filling all the blocks, an organized and decent business model was right in front of you. Every part of the plan is important to make the ideas happen.
